Bold Faith, Gentle Heart
There are some voices in the Kingdom that carry both strength and sweetness—and my dear friend Jen Lilley is one of them. I’m so grateful to share her words with you today because they reflect the very heart of Jesus: bold, unwavering truth wrapped in tender, compassionate love. As you read, I pray you’ll be reminded that you are clothed in His strength and gently led by His grace—and that your life can beautifully reflect both.

Boldness doesn’t come from merely being outspoken or confident—it flows from knowing who you are in Christ and being fully clothed in His strength.
The Proverbs 31 woman laughs at the days to come because she knows her future is secure in God’s hands. She isn’t anxious about tomorrow because her faith is deeply rooted in the promises of God. She trusts that He will provide, protect, and guide her through every circumstance. This is the kind of boldness that doesn’t strive—it rests. It doesn’t demand control—it surrenders to the One who already holds it all.
But Scripture shows us that true boldness is never harsh or self-serving.
Proverbs 31:26 reminds us that when she speaks, her words are marked by wisdom and loving instruction. Her boldness doesn’t overpower—it uplifts. It doesn’t wound—it restores. When we operate from a place of bold faith, our words carry both the authority of God and the tenderness of His heart.
Jesus Himself modeled this perfectly. He spoke truth with unwavering courage, yet He reached out in love to heal, restore, and draw people near. His life reveals that boldness and gentleness are not opposites—they are inseparable expressions of God’s character.
Isaiah 40:11 gives us a breathtaking picture of this balance: a Shepherd who gathers His lambs in His arms, holds them close to His heart, and gently leads them. This is the same Jesus who walked boldly toward the cross. Strength and tenderness, courage and compassion—fully united.
And this is the life we are called to live.
As we grow in our faith, we are invited to embody both boldness and gentleness. To stand firm in truth, yet speak it in love. To walk confidently in our calling, yet remain tender toward those God has entrusted to us—whether our children, our friends, or those who are young in their faith.
Being bold doesn’t mean being loud, forceful, or overbearing. It means being so secure in Christ that you can speak truth with grace, lead with compassion, and trust God with the outcome.
So today, clothe yourself in His strength and dignity. Let His truth shape your words and His love soften your approach. Ask Him to help you live with courage and compassion—reflecting the heart of your gentle Shepherd in every interaction.
