Good Times - Be A Giver

WOW!

Wow … just wow!

What an opportunity has been given to us in this current coronavirus pandemic!

It’s almost as if the Father has said, “Let this be your finest hour!”

The world is watching us, dear one.  Make no mistake about it, the world is watching.

When trouble comes in like a flood, these are the days when a believer is able to build an ark … to walk on water … and to trust like never before!

Last week, I referenced the amazing choice that Navy Seals make when they are called upon to take on a ferocious and unwelcome enemy.

In case you missed it … let me quickly remind you …

Navy Seals are known to be among the fiercest, the bravest and the best-trained of all of our fighting forces.

They face danger with nary a concern for their very lives.

Navy Seals are what legends are made of.

There is a particular phrase that has become an intrinsic part of the DNA of the Navy Seals.

“Good Times!”

When an enemy comes their way … Good times!

When they are inconvenienced due to a disappointing assignment … Good times!

When they are required to swim through dark, murky waters … Good times!

I am not exactly sure why the two-word phrase, Good times was chosen by the Navy Seals as their unofficial motto, but I do know why it should be our motto, as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.

As believers in God, we must believe that whatever is happening in our lives will eventually be good because we serve the God who is more than able to work all things together for good.

Good times!

You see … when we partner with God in the process … His goodness is infused into us and miraculously we become both creators of good times and purveyors of good times.

So … rather than writing a traditional weekly blog … over the next few weeks I will be writing more often than once a week.

I will be sharing with you short but meaningful principals of what is required to turn the hard times in life into the good times in life.

Will you join me?

Will you join me on this joyful journey that will enable you to traverse the murky and dark waters of a pandemic into a time where the goodness of God is revealed in your life?

Will you?

Last week, we talked about the importance of singing our way through every storm in life.

Today, I want to encourage you to be a giver not a taker during these very difficult days.

Let others go first in line at the grocery store … at the gas station … or to pick up that last package of toilet paper!

Take a meal to someone who lives alone and leave it on his or her front porch.

Send cards to children in the mail.

The coronavirus has not stifled our ability to give to others generously!

Although we can’t have social interactions … we can still have generous opportunities!

Buy a plant for your neighbor and ring their doorbell and run away!

Sit down and write hand-written notes to people who have been kind to you over the years. Oh! The sweetness of a hand-written note that is addressed by hand!

God didn’t create us to be a reservoir that is always taking and never giving; He created us to be a river that is always giving!

We were always meant to flow with a grand generosity that splashes onto the world around us … even during times of drought!

“Give and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure – pressed down, shaken together and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.” – Luke 6: 38

Never think that the little that you have to give in time, money or possession won’t make a difference! Remind yourself of the little boy who only had 5 barley loaves and 2 tiny fish …

When Jesus touches our “little” with His power … it becomes more than enough to bless thousands and thousands of people!

And you, my friend, will have left-overs in abundance!

God loves a cheerful giver!

God stands up and cheers when one of His very own children is audacious enough to look beyond their own needs and to give to others first!

God’s heart overflows with love when a man or a woman boldly declares, “I was born to be generous!”

I have learned during my six decades of living that it is impossible to out-love God … to out-dream God … and to out-give God!

But I will spend the rest of my life trying to do just that!

Because I am encouraging you to be generous during these difficult days, I decided that I should lead by example.

For the next week or so, all books on our website are 50% off!

We have slashed our prices so that you can give to others.

I want you to buy a book for yourself … and a book for a friend!

All you have to do is visit our website, www.carolmcleodministries.com, and click on “shop”. Make your choices and then when you are ready to check out, simply put in the code GOODTIMES.

Honestly, we will make no money with this endeavor, but we will please the Father’s heart and we will strengthen the Body of Christ!

It is our generous gift to you so that you can be generous with others!

Good times, my friend!

Good times, indeed!

Thanks for listening to my heart this week.  As you know by now, my heart is truly not a perfect heart but it is a heart that is filled to overflowing with gratitude for the life I have been given and for the people who walk with me.  And, it continues to be a heart that is relentlessly chasing after God and all that He is!
